Meal Plan

A list of meals sorted by Day/Meal/Snack/After Dinner

Day One - Half Day

  • Breakfast: In Grand Marais at Blue Water Cafe.
  • Lunch: Sandwiches/chips/fruit made the night before we leave.
  • Dinner: Mac & Cheese w/ Ham.
  • Snacks: One candy bar each.
  • After Dinner: A nip for Lake Nip. Single-malt whiskey.

Day Two

  • Breakfast: Grapenuts w/ dried milk and fruit / coffee or tea
  • Lunch: Peanut butter and jam sandwiches plus chips (if we have the room in our holds)
  • Dinner: Red Beans and Rice in wrap with cheddar cheese
  • Snacks: Gorp/Powerbar/Drink Mix
  • After Dinner: Cheesecake / Hot Cocoa

Day Three

  • Breakfast:
    • 2 servings Instant Cream of Rice.
    • 2 tbsp sugar.
    • Bunch o' raisins.
    • Cinnamon.
    • About 50% more boiling water than suggested.
    • ~500 calories
    • ~100g carbs (24g sugars, 76g complex)
    • 6g protein
    • 0g fat
  • Lunch:
    • 2 large ("burrito size") flour tortillas.
    • 2 thick "stripes" of Ultralight Joe's Moose Goo (about 1/3 a tube) OR one vacuum-packed tuna/salmon steak with a few mayo and relish packets.
    • 860 calories
    • 125g carbs (mostly complex carbs)
    • 11g protein (30g+ if tuna/salmon steak)
    • 24g fat (6g if tuna/salmon steak)
  • Dinner:
    • 1 cup Instant Rice
    • 1/2-cup Knorr dried Refried Black Beans
    • 2.5 tbsp Knorr "Rice Mates" seasoning
    • 1 chicken-flavored consomme cube
    • About 50% more boiling water than suggested.
    • 585 calories
    • 105g carbs (mostly complex)
    • 18g protein
    • 6g fat
  • Snacks:
    • Good n' Plenty (licorice with a hard shell)
    • Dried apricots
    • Red Vines
    • Peanut M&Ms
    • Salted/flavored soy nuts
    • Raisinettes (chocolate-covered raisins)
    • Pop Tarts
    • Clif Bars/Odwalla Bars
  • After Dinner:

Day Four

  • Breakfast: Fry Bread with Cinnamon and Sugar and Butter
  • Lunch: Swiss Crackers, cheese, summer sausage, dried fruit

  • After Dinner:

Day Five

  • Breakfast: Fry Bread with Cinnamon and Sugar and Butter
  • Lunch: Pad Thai Noodles with dried mushrooms and vegetables
  • Dinner:
  • Snacks: Pomegranite Odwalla bar each
  • After Dinner: Cheesecake.

Day Six

  • Breakfast: Oatmeal with Dried Fruit
  • Lunch:
  • Dinner: Thai ginger and lime rice dish with salmon
  • Snacks: nuts and dried fruit
  • After Dinner:
